join the NOC for a performance of
Pirates of Penzance

"........It was a journey of adventure and our common alma mater, The University of Western Ontario,
that brought conductor John Kraus and I together to muse about a cooperative performance project."
"Through some pandemic false starts, we arrived at The Pirates of Penzance - in concert (Renée Salewski edition 2021),
at Trinity United Church of Cobourg, Ontario, on January 28, 2023.
The rehearsal and performance outcome was a thrilling ride and a marvelous celebration of
good faith and joyful anticipation in our superbly imperfect perfection. It remains a ringing triumph for all of us here.
I would like to acknowledge the depth of this outreach initiative in my professorial work at the University of Toronto Faculty of Music,
and in my position as Artistic Director and Chair of the Centre for Opera Studies & Appreciation Canada (COSA Canada).
The vision and capacity of the NOC in all of this was unusually generous and exhilarating. As we all seek to root ourselves more deeply and to flourish through this post-pandemic era, I think it is important to cite what the NOC dared to do, and to say “thank you”
for what an artistic embrace of humanity can achieve between communities......."

“Mr. Kraus immediately impressed us with his
love of all genres of music, his passion for music education
and his extensive experience working with
student, amateur and professional musicians.”
